Meet the team behind CCAICR—a group of experienced conflict resolution professionals dedicated to building capacity in curiosity-based conflict communication skills and practical strategies for navigating complex situations. With diverse backgrounds in conflict analysis and resolution, education, leadership and management, we’re passionate about fostering meaningful change and empowering professionals across industries to approach conflict with curiosity, confidence and skill.
Sabina Smith M.A. is principal facilitator at the Canadian Center for Applied Insight Conflict Resolution (CCAICR) in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Sabina holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Management along with a Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies. With over ten years of varied experience in law enforcement, she has undertaken numerous roles in the public sector. Transitioning from law enforcement, Sabina accepted a Senior Adjudication position in 2023, where she was responsible for adjudicating complex mental health claims.
In 2024, Sabina earned appointment as a BC Bylaw Adjudicator from the Ministry of Attorney General where she manages disputes between local governments and members of the public. With CCAICR, Sabina facilitates courses grounded in the Insight Approach to Conflict Analysis and Resolution, focusing on the importance of conscious and targeted curiosity to manage conflict in the moment. Her engaging public speaking style and ability to distill complex theories into memorable metaphors have garnered her praise in training sessions and workshops across North America.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Sabina is an avid Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and has recently begun teaching and refereeing the martial art in the Interior of British Columbia, with a special focus on empowering women through her classes.
Dr. Megan Price founded the Center for Applied Insight Conflict Resolution, (CAICR) in Washington, DC in 2016 to offer curiosity-based conflict communication and resolution skills to people who confront conflict regularly. The experiential curricula she develops and delivers is grounded in her expertise in the Insight approach to Conflict Analysis and Resolution, which explains how conflict affects decision-making and how targeted curiosity can turn adversity into opportunity. Dr. Price is committed to experiential, authentic learning techniques and leveraging curiosity for authentic discovery and impactful change. Her passion is building conflict capacity to help people turn conflict into cooperation and find strategic solutions to complex challenges across diverse fields and applications.
In addition to CAICR, Dr. Price is a regular speaker and writer on the role of curiosity in conflict resolution. She serves as Associate Faculty of Conflict Analysis and Management at Royal Roads University, Adjunct Faculty at George Mason University, is on the board of the Insight Collaboration Institute and is a founding member of the Studio for Emergent Action.
Asia Mclean is an experienced trainer and facilitator who has led dozens of workshops on topics such as de-escalation, trauma- and violence-informed support, harm reduction, anti-oppressive practice, feminist intersectionality, and restorative practices. She has held various roles in the social services sector working alongside people resisting violence in all forms, and has grown into a passionate advocate and leader. She is currently working towards a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management at Royal Roads University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University.
